Whether it be films, music or software – the right type of licensing is the decisive factor for the commercial value of copyright protected works. Legally secure license contracts are therefore important on the one hand, because the proprietor of rights must prove in the case of doubt that the necessary rights have actually been granted to him/her. At the same time, on the other hand it is decisive that the future is focused on at the time of conclusion of the contract – all thinkable chains of utilization as well as all unknown types of use up to date should be appropriately apprehended and either excluded or correspondingly remunerated.

Of course the licensee has a justified interest in only acquiring and paying for what he/she actually needs.
